1. Combine flour and baking powder.
2. In a large bowl beat the butter, shortening and sugar until creamy.

Add egg, milk, orange peel and vanilla.
4. Beat well.
5. Add flour mixture and mix well.
7. Cover
and chill at least 1/2 hour.
8. Shape into 2 8" long rolls.
9. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill overnight.
10. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
11. Unwrap and cut dough into 1/4" slices.
12. Place on ungreased cookie
sheet.
13. Place cherry half on bottom half of each piece and fold sides of slice slightly covering the cherry. It
will resemble a triangle when folded correctly.
14. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes.
Yields: 5 dozen, bell shaped cookies
