1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
2. Thoroughly cream together shortening, butter and brown sugar.

Beat in eggs, orange peel, orange juice, vanilla and buttermilk.
4. Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed
mixture.
5. Add nuts.
6. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
7. Bake for 15 minutes.
Yields: About 4 dozen.
