Mock Apple (Ritz Cracker) Pie

  		Ritz crackers **
sugar
cinnamon
nutmeg
cream of tartar
water
lemon juice
oleo
oleo
pastry for a 8" two-crust pie
** Do NOT use another brand - it really is not as good if you do!
Procedure:
  1. Preheat oven to 425° F.
  2. Combine all ingredients except crackers in a saucepan.
  3. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring, until sugar has dissolved and spices are blended.
  4. Cool.
  5. Put bottom crust into pie pan.
  6. Break crackers in half into the crust.
  7. Pour cooled mixture over crackers and dot with butter/oleo.
  8. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
Delicious served hot with ice cream - or without!
