Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies

vegetable oil
brown sugar, firmly packed
dark molasses
egg
flour
baking soda
cinnamon
ginger
cloves
salt
grape jelly
granulated sugar
Procedure:

1.  Cream together the oil, brown sugar, molasses and eggs.
2.  Sift together the dry ingredients.
3.  Add to the creamed mixture and blend well.
4.  Refrigerate overnight.

5.  Preheat oven to 375ºF.
6.  Shape into walnut-sized balls.
7.  Dip tops in water and then in sugar.
8.  Make a finger indentation in each cookie and fill with 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of grape jelly.
9.  Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
10.  Cool.
